There is a book that is considered the Bible when it comes to ocean travel, World Cruising Routes by Jimmy Cornell. This book list of the available routes and the time of year when they should be taken. It´s an must. Expensive but worth every cent

Thanks for the suggestion! We bought that book already! We have a nice little collection of similar books, but this is the one we’re most excited about — even with the price tag :)

what an adventure already! can't wait to read more and hear how you navigate full-time-sail-boat-living (whether conquering, crying, or crudely muddling through - all valid). cheers from a fellow explorer ♡

This is so exciting! Have you heard of Sailing Uma on YouTube? They have a similar story as you in the beginning and have now been living in their boat and sailing around the world for 8 years I think!

Thanks for the awesome comment yes, I’ve seen Sailing Uma! That is so damn inspiring to me — including the YouTube piece. We’re hoping/planning to build something so sustainable and fun — both internally and externally — that we can go that long if wanted. Though, historically, we have ~6 year runs doing a thing. But damn, we could make it around the world at least twice in that time. And I’d have a chance to see Alaska! :)

Sounds like a great plan! Don’t worry about the six years, you have no idea what will happen between now and then. Just take it one day at a time:)

Absolutely, golden advice, Jill! Lately, as is reflected in my most recent post, we’re literally putting one foot in front of the other :)

I live in Alexandria, the Chesapeake Bay area is a great place for you to test things out.

Amazing, Deidre! That is what we're hearing from everyone. We were originally going to Chesapeake Bay to buy our sailboat, but we got sucked into the promise of coastal North Carolina instead. It's our destiny to be up there! I've heard people say they sail around Chesapeake Bay for decades and never get bored.

Thanks as always for your comments and for reading along.
