We nailed the same theme in different ways this week. Amazing to see that synchronicity. I found that when I chose to only surround myself with those who could share and expand my dream that my world shifted dramatically for the better.

Hell yea, Nomad Dad! That’s beautiful. Right now, I’m in this odd limbo where my new chosen lifestyle is so theoretical. We only know a few people who are liveaboard sailors and they have much different values, vibes, risk tolerances, ideas about needs, and more. I truly cannot wait to find more folks who can share & expand my dream, as you put it!

I can relate Cory! So far my best decisions where the ones that some would call risky and maybe even stupid.

- I also left to Australia and then Southeast Asia in my early twenties and worked random jobs when money got low (could have continued a promising journalism career in Italy)

- Afterwards I moved to England with only €300 to my name, completely heartbroken, but still knowing I'd find a job and make it work (I did)

- In 2020 I closed my yoga studio, sold most my stuff, and flew to Mexico to meet a guy I shortly met on vacations and fell in love with over the internet (I married him)

- When my husband and I moved into our truck camper (no fridge, no toilet, tiny space), he left his well paying job while I wasn't allowed to work yet (waiting for my green card). (Yes, had cold feet just before 'moving in' but made our best memories ever)

Of course it was hard at times but I am so glad I never listened to other peoples fears.

Long story short, soon you'll be surrounded by people that will think what you did makes 100% sense. I 100% know you'll be loving it. What is life without any adventures anyways? I think that's scarier than losing all your money and having to start from scratch.

Thanks for sharing all this, Maria! I also appreciate the positive message about being able to find "our people." I'm so biased in the way I view success, since I basically define it by the quality & diversity of our experiences, but I think you've had an extremely good run! Also, bravo to your husband leaving his job in pursuit of adventure. I'm also about to leave my well-paying job to live on a sailboat. And our sailboat sounds very similar to your truck camper haha. It's a super tiny space (~100 sq. feet), and we won't have a fridge or shower. Though we do have a working toilet with a holding tank, thankfully! :)

I know the fear of your home being too small but your "backyard" will be sooo big! I made our little space as comfy and cozy as possible, hanging up fairy lights and cute curtains, and that was all I needed in the end. We almost went for a trailer instead of the truck camper but so glad we didn't! We were able to drive to so many places and be by ourselves in wide open nature that would have not been accessible with a trailer.

Thanks for reading, Matt!! And thanks for being one of the amazing folks who I can always chat with, regardless of whether I’m feeling confident or otherwise :)

We jump shipped but to the jungles of the Mex-Caribbean years ago after falling head over heels —with a country. Friends- family first thought it was a neat adventure till our eminent domain bummer, then hurricane issues, and opening a business (bookstore) bonkers. But in time as it became a great vacation spot for them ): they all decided, hey ! Cool! Yes, do follow those wild dreams bc someone’s gotta do it. And you will have a blast. Felicidades!!
